Statins have been shown to have cholesterol-lowering effects, but the pleiotropic benefits of statins in sepsis are controversial. The aim of our study was to determine the outcome of sepsis in users and non-users of low- and high-potency statins. In this national prospective cohort study of patients with chronic kidney disease who started dialysis, statin use was associated with a significant and statistically significant reduction in the incidence of sepsis.
